These are the three kings who came to Bethlehem to greet the birth of Jesus. Gaspard, Melchior and Balthazar, guided by the star, will bring the dream of the Orient and whatever the reality of this whole adventure which takes place on January 6 when they place the gold, the incense at the feet of Jesus and myrrh. Great and powerful, representing the other races of the world for that distant era, they bow no less before the new king. What symbolism! The three wise men are installed in the crèche on January 6, the day when we will "celebrate the Kings" with a cake or crowned brioche.
